A Feast For Crows 2014 Mass Market Tie-In Edition

At the time of writing this, I don't own a copy of A Storm of Swords, so from my post of A Clash of Kings, I'll have to skip to the fourth installment in George R.R. Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire, A Feast For Crows. I had a plan to have set of mismatched books that still … Continue reading A Feast For Crows 2014 Mass Market Tie-In Edition

A Clash of Kings 2011 Paperback Reiussue

A Clash of Kings is the second book in George R. R. Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire. I haven't had the time to read Clash since I read A Game of Thrones last winter at the time of writing this book. I was enthralled with the story watching HBO's "Game of Thrones" which is what brought … Continue reading A Clash of Kings 2011 Paperback Reiussue

The (Inherent?) Problem With Book Collecting

My blog is mostly about and inspired by Tolkien, i.e. the name, Tolkien Fiend. At the moment, it's a humble collection, with about half of the books sitting on the shelf being copies intended for reading. Collecting anything is largely only interesting to the collection, and collectors that are also interested in whatever … Continue reading The (Inherent?) Problem With Book Collecting

If you're looking to explore the story in a different way from the book, this would be my … Continue reading The Hobbit: The Prelude to the Lord of the Rings Video Game (PC)

A Game of Thrones 2005 Mass Market Paperback Reissue

I'm a relative newcomer to Martin's world of Ice and Fire, having read A Game of Thrones during the holiday season of 2016. I started watching "Game of Thrones" during the summer of that year (getting through season four before taking an extended break) and thoroughly enjoyed the show. I decided to try out the books, and fell in love with the first book. I ordered my copy used from Amazon because it was the only copy I found at a comfortable price that did not mention the HBO show anywhere on it. I find advertising the adaptations of the book on the cover to be  nuisance, and do my best to avoid it-a strangely difficult task when shopp

Tolkien’s World A to Z: The Complete Guide to Middle Earth by Robert Foster Hardcover

This book was recommended to me on Amazon for obvious reasons. With the coming of the internet andwebsites like Google, this book could easily be seen as obsolete. That's not a sentiment I entirely agree with. The same might be said of books in general, and yet many people (myself being one of them of … Continue reading Tolkien’s World A to Z: The Complete Guide to Middle Earth by Robert Foster Hardcover

The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey: Chronicles: Art & Design 2012 by Weta

This is an Weta art book detailing the concept art and creation of the world filmed in Peter Jackson's "The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey." Regardless of how anyone feels about the film, it's undeniable that Jackson has an act for bringing the feel and imagery Tolkien books to the silver screen, so it's worth … Continue reading The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey: Chronicles: Art & Design 2012 by Weta
